I still remember one of the very first times I sat down with a new potential business partner, it was one of the first times I felt confident in sharing the path I was on. I remember sharing my passion, learning about him and feeling so excited to share with him all the wonderful experiences I had had as a new entrepreneur.
One of our favourite things is giving our time, resources and dedicating ourselves to others. It can be a simple offer to bring a home cooked meal to a friend when they’re sick, supporting a niece or nephew by helping them fund raise a school field trip or donating to a cause that has touched our hearts. When finances are tight however and we are worried about our family’s needs being met, it is tough to think about giving to others. I see it all too often, financial stress leads to a lack of time (having to work more, pick up more shifts, or send a spouse to work). Having no time to dedicate to our loved ones means we cannot give as much as we’d like to.
Giving to others can bring a huge sense of accomplishment. You may feel uncomfortable when you get recognized for donating your time or funds to others, but just think back to when someone did the same for you, how did you feel when someone threw you a lifeline? How awesome would it be to to be able to be a lifeline for someone else?
